Drummers for Haiti: A Photo Recap

Drummers for Haiti was a success! A lot of people showed up to support the people of Haiti and learn a thing or two about drumming, and even though the event was for drummers there were several non-musicians that came out to support the cause. (My 88 year old grandmother showed up!) Glenn Weber, Tommy Igoe, Jason Gianni, Peter Retzlaff, and Ron Thaler all gave fantastic clinics on subjects ranging from rudiments to polyrhythms and even the mindset of an artist as it pertains not just to drumming, but any artistic endeavor. (You can read more about the event here.)

Vic Firth, The Collective School of Music and several other drum companies/institutions donated a total of over 80 items (drum heads, sticks, shirts, books, etc.), all of which were raffled off, with 100% of the proceeds going to Haiti. Since there were so many donations, nearly everyone who purchased a raffle ticket went home with a prize.

All in all the event was a success. It's not that everything went perfectly right (which it mostly did), but nothing went horribly wrong. (Crucial!)
